My Nephew Gio and I pouting because we did not want to leave our fun outing |
Okay, okay.. We have all been there. We have so much fun during our jam packed day and then we get home and realize, we have not done our workout for the day. The laziness sets in. You start making excuses and find things that you suddenly HAVE to get done before the night is over. I am not judging you.. I have been there! In fact, I have been there more times than I should! lol I restarted my fitness journey on the 4th of January with a bang. I have not fallen off the wagon and do not plan to do so and I think because of my consistency, it has been harder for me to skip a day and easier to get my workouts in. So, today I decided to share some tips with you that really work for me!
- Set an alarm that says workout with the reason why you are working out in the first place. Bonus points for adding an inspirational song or photo ;)
- When you wake up in the morning, put your workout clothes on and tell yourself that you cannot change out of them until you get your workout in. (I will be the first to admit that I have slept in my workout gear a handful of times because my excuses were out of control. Don't be the old me!)
- Workout when you first wakeup rather than later in the day. When you are half asleep you don't realize what you are doing for a good 10-15 minutes. Before you know it, you are almost done with your workout. I also find that I perform better before a long day than after when I am tired.
- Supplement! Okay so I have been doing the Master's Hammer and Chisel program and it is no joke. Results are crazy so far but had I not been doing it with the performance line I may not have been having the success that I am. Energize in particular gets me going and makes it easier to get through a tough workout.
- Choose a workout program that is short and effective. Some of the programs I like are 21 day fix / Extreme, T-25, and Piyo! There are so many programs out there. Choose something you enjoy and stick with it.
- Fuel your body right. When I changed my diet, my body started feeling good. I never knew what being regular meant I thought I was fine, but the clarity you get when you eat right, is like nothing else. If you feel better you will be more inclined to get that workout in. I have found that drinking shakeology once a day has helped me. However, I am not perfect. I do follow the 80/20 rule so that I do not deprive myself of things I love. I just do so in moderation :)
- Set short term goals and track your progress. If you have something to work towards you are more likely to push yourself. Yes, big goals are great but they may become intimidating and feel as if you can never reach them. Take those big , audacious goals and break them down to smaller goals. Reward yourself for achieving the smaller goals and celebrate all of your victories big or small!
- If none of the above work, you just have to dig deep inside and do it!
I hope these tips can help you get out of the rut! Want to join one of my private Facebook accountability groups where a group of like minded people on the same fitness journey share their tips, successes, and struggles? These groups are designed to help you get the support and motivation needed to complete a program, not just start it. If so, you can email me at limitlessdynasty15@gmail.com or message me on Facebook and I can give you more info and details. Hope you have a fabulous day!
XO, Chris
