HelloFresh Unboxing

Hey beautiful people! I can't believe it has been a month since my last blog post! I am so sorry about that but, rest assured I am back to my normal schedule!

I recently received a coupon in the mail for a $40 off of my first Hello Fresh order. I was really curious about this subscription because I already subscribe to things like iPSY but nothing food related. Since I am always looking for ways to eat better without extra work, I decided to give it a try. Of course, I did not do so without first checking out youtube. Everyone there had amazing reviews so I finally ordered. I will post the actual video below of the unboxing. It is a bit shaky, sorry about that! I was extremely excited.

Read more after the jump!

Let's get to the details now, shall we?

So, the actual package was scheduled to be delivered today and thankfully, it was right on time! It was quite heavy and a pretty large box. I ordered the Omnivore Family Box (3 meals for 4 people). Inside the box there was like a foil/bubble wrap cooler with a layer of ice packs and meats (2 packages each of chicken breasts, beef, and bone-in pork chops), topped with a thin cardboard layer, and finally 3 cardboard boxes with ingredients for each meal. On top of the boxes were an envelope with coupons for other cool companies and products and the actual recipe book.

I checked all of the produce and none of it was wilted, bruised, or bad. It all seemed to be extremely fresh which I love! The three recipes I received were:

  • Crispy Chicken Parmigiana Salad with potatoes and spinach
  • Bone - In Pork Chops with roasted pears, collards, and shallot cream sauce and finally,
  • Thai Beef Satay with crispy broccoli, peanut sauce and jasmine rice
I really like the simplicity of it all. The recipes look easy enough for a beginner to do while still looking delicious. the recipe book also includes approx. cooking/prep time, level of simplicity, and if it is gluten/dairy or allergen free. You can really personalize your box. The other thing I noticed was that they portioned each ingredient into 2 separate portions inside each recipe box. I thought this was cool especially if you wanted to split your meals for lunch and dinner. I think ordering the family box for 2 people would be great for extending the meals for more days. This can even work to do a lunch and a dinner so essentially, you would be getting 6 meals for 2 people.

On the website, under your account, they have all the recipes of your meals and you can download them there if you accidentally throw out the paper version and also rate them. I am assuming this helps them get an idea of what you like or don't like so that they can further cater to your preferences.

What really has me loving this subscription so far is the convenience of it all. It is like having a personal food shopper! You don't need to think at all. It is all done for you! Of course I have not cooked any of it yet, but will start tonight. Look out for a full review of the recipes around Friday. Until then, have a wonderful day!

XOXO,
Chris
